Naperville Rotary this year has set out to raise yet
more money for deserving nonprofits in the community by holding a
high end benefit auction, “Rotary Shares: A Source of Hope for
a Better Naperville.” The event will take place Oct. 4 at Meson
Sabika and feature such high-end auction items as a week-long trip
to Austria, with round-trip air fare, a catered dinner for 10 in the
winner’s home and even a one-year parking spot in the middle
of Downtown Naperville.
Tickets for “Rotary Shares” are $100 and
only 300 will be sold. Meson Sabika, one of Naperville’s premier
restaurants and party venues, will host the event, which will feature
authentic Spanish tapas. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the live auction
will begin at 8 p.m., followed by a unique “needs” auction
for three highlighted community charities. Dress is business casual.
Chuck and Dr. Laura Bokar, are the event co-chairmen
with Ed and Kathy Channell.
Three of the more than 25 non-profits Rotary supports
will be highlighted this year for this new event. They are Heritage
YMCA, Naperville CARES and Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center.
“There will be a special opportunity to give to these three
at the end of the evening,” Bokar explained.
“We wanted to start Oktoberfest by focusing not
on the festival, but on the needs of the community,” Bokar said.
“While we all have fun at these events, it’s important
to realize how vital the funds are to these worthwhile causes. Rotary
is committed to ‘Service above Self’ and this inaugural
auction promises to give support to those who need it most within
our community.”
In addition to the downtown parking space and the Austrian
condo, patrons will be able to bid on a trip to a fall Notre Dame
football game, dinner for 10 on the rooftop at Tessa’s restaurant,
and Bears/Packers tickets, hosted tailgating and escort into the game.
Already over $35,000 in auction items has been contributed.
